Holds & requests

Existing holds

  • Library staff will move existing holds from branches to the new pickup locations and you will receive a phone call or email notification when your item(s) are ready for pickup. Items will move to one of the eight locations, including Millennium, Henderson, Pembina Trail, St. Boniface, Sir William Stephenson, Louis Riel, Transcona and St. James-Assiniboia library branches. You won’t be able to change pickup locations for holds that have already been placed, but will need to pick them up at the locations listed above.
  • Please wait for an email or phone call letting you know your holds are ready for pickup before visiting a branch. Please verify that your contact information is correct by visiting My Account, and if needed, updating your email address and/or phone number.


  • Smartlockers are not available for pickups.

Existing requests

  • Holds can be suspended or unsuspended through My Account.

New requests

  • Holds can only be placed on materials available at the Millennium, Henderson, Pembina Trail, St. Boniface, Sir William Stephenson, Transcona, Louis Riel and St. James-Assiniboia libraries. Holds can be placed using the online catalogue at or the library’s mobile app.

  • The borrowing period will be sixty (60) days from date of check out.

  • The number of days for pickup is now seven (7) business days.

  • Requests can still be placed for holds on digital library items (e.g. OverDrive and RBdigital).

  • Up to 50 requests at a time may be placed.
