My card has expired. How can I get it renewed?

  • Your library membership card is valid for three years, after which time it expires and needs to be renewed.
  • To renew your card, please visit one of our 20 branch locations. If you have concerns about visiting a library in person to renew your card, please call one of our branches or email us via our online Ask Us! service to discuss options.
  • When renewing, acceptable identification (See What is acceptable identification?) must be shown.
  • Any outstanding fees must be paid at the time of renewal.
  • Once a year you will be asked to show current identification to confirm your address and pay outstanding fees and charges.
  • Non-Resident cards are different and must be renewed annually.

Guidelines for using the library

Here are some things to keep in mind when planning your visit to a library branch:

Services remain limited by public health orders and our own operational capacity.

  • Drinks are allowed but food is not. Please keep your mask on unless taking a drink.
  • Some service areas are closed, or require staff assistance for use. See our Programs & Services tab for details.
  • All visitors should use the self-assessment symptom checklist before entering the buildings; anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter the branches.
  • Visitors are reminded to follow posted signage, maintain social distancing, and wear a face mask.

Whenever possible, take what you touch.

  • Magazines are available for check out only.
  • Newspapers are not available for browsing but remain available using our digital library.

I have personal reasons that prevent me from visiting the Library in person. What are my options?

There are several options available for customers who still do not want to visit a library in person.

  1. Have a friend or family member pick up materials for you; all they need is to bring your library card with them when they come.
  2. Visit us online and download digital content. The Digital Library is open and available 24/7. Through it you can access:
    • downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks
    • streaming movies and music
    • eMagazines and newspapers
    • Research databases
    • Please visit our Digital Library for instructions on how to get your device set up to access these services.
