Thank you for your patience.

Winnipeg is currently Critical (red) in the Province of Manitoba’s Pandemic Response System. For more information please visit https://winnipeg.ca/emergweb/covid-19/default.stm

Currently:

  • All library branches are closed.
  • Check It Out service will not be running.
  • In-person services are not available, including holds pickup and returns.

Our online collections, as well as virtual programs and services are available during the closure. Please explore this guide for more information.

Beginning on Monday, December 7, Winnipeg Public Library will be providing contactless holds pick-up and return services at 10 library branches, in alignment with Provincial Public Health Orders:

  • Charleswood
  • Henderson
  • Louis Riel
  • Millennium
  • Pembina Trail
  • River Heights
  • St. Boniface
  • St. James-Assiniboia
  • Sir William Stephenson
  • Transcona

Hours of operation will be:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Friday – 10am to 2pm
  • Thursday – 3pm to 7pm

Service at these libraries will be for contactless holds pick-up and return services only. Customers will not be able to enter branches. Holds may be placed using the library’s online catalogue or mobile app or by phoning the library starting December 7th.

At this time we are finalizing our plan for contactless holds pickup and return services. This plan will include information on how and where holds will be moved between branches and how pickup will work for customers without a phone. Details will be posted on winnipeg.ca/wpl by December 7th.

What can I borrow?

The digital library will remain open and available 24/7 throughout the closure. Through it you can access:

  • downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks
  • streaming movies and music
  • eMagazines and newspapers
  • Research databases.

Many of our online services have added free content (i.e. available without having to place a hold or use a credit) that will be available during the closure.

Please visit our eMedia 24/7 Guide for instructions on how to get your device set up to access these services.
