Which e-reader should I buy?

One of our most popular questions is:

“Which eReader should I buy that will work with your eBooks?”

If you don't know much about eReaders and tablets, start with OverDrive's Device Profiles (link below).

You can also browse the most popular eReader types in the OverDrive Help and Printable How-To Guides boxes further down this page.

What about Kindle devices?

  • Kindle "eInk" devices (Kindle Basic, Paperwhite, Voyage, etc.) are NOT compatible with OverDrive eBooks in Canada.
  • Kindle Fire tablets use the Android operating system and are therefore supported through the use of the OverDrive app for Android
